Trek: This is science-fiction, but we want our science to at least sound plausible. Therefore, most of the time, our scientific explanations will be rooted in scientific fact or at the very least solid, generally accepted theory.

and she just looks at him and points to them one by one and is like “RAAAAAHGHHHRAARRRR” for each one and he has no sweet clue that she’s actually just named them all “Leonard McCoy Grrrapthak Numbers One Through Eight”.
and Bones just realizes that now there are nine lizards and he runs away
and she takes her octuplets back to the Gorn homeworld and the name of Leonard McCoy lives on through the ages
