Being a trans ally really is that simple

Klingons are doing this better than humans.

I’ve said it before: It makes total sense that Klingons are good at this. What are Klingons all about? HONOR.

Calling someone by a name they don’t want to be called? Misgendering them? That’s showing that you don’t respect them. You’re saying their identity is without honor.

Klingons are the kind of Warriors who’d pull out a sword or a knife when you misgender them or one of their friends, and demand you correct your mistake immediately. One way or another, you will not be doing that again, and if they have to shed the blood of some disrespectful petaQ? SO BE IT.

Klingons are the ultimate trans ally.

Jadzia for the ‘give me a character’ meme

deepspacegays:

GIVE ME A CHARACTER;

and I’ll break their ass down:

  • How I feel about this character  A very long time ago a seven year old watched DS9 with their older sibling. I saw the most beautiful woman I’d ever laid eyes on. She was smart, strong, she was outspoken, she didn’t give a fuck about gender/roles, or stereotypes. She made pinging googly eyes behind Kira’s back. And then when I was nine I saw her kiss another woman on live t.v. my gay ass was liberated. I’m 32, I’ve never loved another character more in this same way and I don’t think I ever will. (My love for Kira is equal) I fell in love with Jadzia again on a recent re-watch and boy is DS9 gayer than I ever realized.
  • All the people I ship romantically with this character Kira, Bevery Crusher, B’Elanna Torres, Seven of Nine, Janeway,

TNG WORF!!! *sigh* “Good tea, nice house” and the man who got in a freaking mud bath with his son is her husband thank you very much!!! Also “Klingons do not allow themselves to be probed” Jadzia rolls when she first hears the story from Beverly. “He said that? He actually said that?? At a meeting?? in front of everyone??” No one can get her to stop laughing for a god damn hour. Then when everyone thinks she’s settled down “That’s not what he said last night!!”

  • My non-romantic OTP for this character Sisko, Julian, and Miles are her brotp buddies. Her friendship with Jake is also great. I can respect her dumb ass friendship with Quark.
  • My unpopular opinion about this character  Jadzia is a cannon Pansexual and no hetero can convince me otherwise.
  • One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.  Being alive is great… Anyway, I wish Jadzia and Lenara had more time together, let them develop, let them fight to try and be together, something, anything.

It’s always bothered me that after being Captain of the Defiant during the war that when they retook the station she didn’t get promoted to full three pip commander. What does a woman have to do to get a promotion? We didn’t even see get her promoted to Lieu -Cmd in the first place.

Backstory?? where did she serve before DS9?? Family??? Mom and a sister??? Did she ever mention her father?? Dax likes animals??? Zoology degree???  What was she like as a child?? Why did she go into science at the academy?? I’m…

deep space nines biggest strength- aside from wonderful characters- is that it capitalizes on the extended universe so perfectly

it takes alien races and cultures that featured in tng for an episode or two and greatly expands them, it effortlessly brings worf into the established cast, it builds upon the foundations of interstellar politics and treats canon like actual history, with nods of varying degrees to both tos and tng interspersed

ds9 understands that it wouldnt exist as a show without what came before it, it doesnt try to ignore that or rely on that background too heavily, but instead is a believable and innovative expansion of the star trek universe

@blacksheepboybucky gahsfasjfsladk yes this exactly !!!!! not to call out your tags but they are amazing and so so true !!!

it really feels like a continuation of a universe rather than any rehashing or anything !! like ds9 turned SO much about the federation on its head, brought up questions about gray areas with federation morality, and is usually referred to as the “darkest” trek, all the while fleshing out stuff from previous shows AND giving us cool new alien concepts from the gamma quadrant

and all of it is fundamentally respecting what came before !!! its so good !!!! it has its own flavor and commentaries and its own big massive huge amazing WAR plot which is what tos and tng spent years getting close to and avoiding

and that lets ds9 go places the others really never went before ! and it does such a good job
