Queen and their movie counterparts

Bohemian Rhapsody. We Will Rock You. Somebody To Love. All hit singles, and all the direct product of a band that was formed when an astrophysicist and a dentistry major found a new friend in an art college, who then went on to recruit a fourth member from the electronics school. Based on this alliance I propose the rift in society between Arts and STEM students was fabricated to keep us separated so as to dilute our true power – and fabricated by who, you may ask? The business major, the only member of society who reaps no reward from art and science and thus must weaken us so as to stay ahead. In this essay I will
“Drop of a hat she’s as willing as,
Playful as a pussy cat,
Then momentarily out of action,
Temporarily out of gas,
To absolutely drive you wild, wild..
She’s all out to get you.”
↳ Queen – Killer Queen
Not gonna lie, one of my favorite parts about writing urban fantasy is determining how and where the fantasy meshes in with reality.
Like, I’m not saying Freddie Mercury WAS a siren, but have you ever heard anyone NOT sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody?
I rest my case.
It is a six-minute song with incomprehensible lyrics that seem to have something to do with murder and demons, with five sections that are completely different stylistically but no chorus.
It was number one on the the UK singles charts twice, 15 years apart, and is by many measures one of the most popular, or the most popular, single of all time.
Yeah, there’s magic involved.
And an absurdly broad swathe of people know it. I have no memory of learning it, do you?
It’s so weird that last comment. Like. You’re right. I knew bohemian rhapsody before I even knew what the name of the song was… I just. Knew it. The knowledge was there. It was “that song with the Galileighos”
My favorite aesthetic. I hope it never ends.
I was looking at this again and thinking about how much I love that while each of these images evokes royalty, each is a very different type. The each give me a different impression:
Beyoncé
– The Empress – At the height of her power, her throne is unassailable, though many try. Strength in every step, her court always in attendance. You will never see the strike coming.
Rihanna – The Child Queen – She crowns herself, trembling but determined, still mourning the things she has lost but refusing to be cowed. No one will claim her suffering but herself.
Nicki – The Anointed Queen – She rules by divine right, lit with a power that is as much spiritual as earthly. Her subjects are her children and she will raise them up, inspiring them with their own worth.
Janelle – The Warrior Queen – She leads a band of poet-warriors, a queendom both young and aggressive, but full of hope for a future that she will fight for, unafraid.
Beyoncé – The Empress: Capricorn, Virgo, Leo
Rihanna – The Child Queen: Scorpio, Pisces, Taurus
Nicki – The Anointed Queen: Cancer, Sagittarius, Libra
Janelle – The Warrior Queen: Gemini, Aquarius, Aries
The Anointed Queen for me. 😌
Child Queen.
My favorite aesthetic. I hope it never ends.
