Keanu Reeves is 52 and does 95% of his own stunts. Check out some of his training footage: (x) (x) (x)
No female characters run around being “sexy assassins in heels and slinky dresses”. Ruby Rose wears a suit buttoned to her neck. Adrianne Palicki kicks ass in clothes that are actually practical for fighting in. Both are portrayed to be as dangerous as any of their male peers.
Claudia Gerini represents the opposite side of the spectrum: that showing skin doesn’t make someone an object and that yes, contrary to what Hollywood thinks, women are still beautiful at 45.
No obnoxious monologuing from John. He just wants to get the job done as fast as he can so he can go home to his dog and maybe take a nap.
PIT BULLS ARE PORTRAYED AS CUTE AND LOVABLE NOT AGGRESSIVE AND VIOLENT.
Literally the plot of the first movie is that a guy goes on a murder rampage to avenge his puppy.
Puppy death, though sad, is quick and not shown on-screen.
I would die for Ian McShane so I feel the need to mention him somewhere in this list.
John Wick has an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, and John Wick 2 has an 89%. Something especially rare for an action sequel.
Seen by many as an art film full of symbolism and references to Greek mythology.
The type of movies that acknowledges how ridiculous they are, and even pokes fun at it.
There are no needless scenes where John has glistening six pack abs. Especially because John doesn’t have glistening six pack abs, he has a normal, average looking body.
ASL is used by multiple characters in Chapter 2.
No forced romantic subplots. Just a dude killing people over a puppy.
First movie has a really good soundtrack???
Lots of death but only one or two scenes with (minimal) gore. Sometimes when a guy goes down you don’t even see any blood.
That guy who plays Mayhem in the Allstate commercials is in it because hoooooo boy there is def some mayhem going on.
Idk I just really love Keanu Reeves.
THIS HAS BEEN A PSA. REBLOG TO SAVE A MOVIE NIGHT.
John Wick Chapter 3 To Explore John’s Past; To End The Assassin’s Story
After the surprise box office success of the previous two movies, Keanu Reeves will be back in John Wick: Chapter 3. According to director Chad Stahelski, the third installment of the neo-noir action franchise is already in development and, in a recent interview, he shared what fans can expect in the continuation of the story of an ex-assassin forced back out of retirement after the murder of his puppy.
GETTING TO KNOW JOHN WICK
While John Wick was a straight-up revenge story, John Wick: Chapter 2 was all about the world of hired assassins hidden within New York City. In John Wick: Chapter 3, the franchise will switch the focus back to its protagonist.
“We’re going to put in something about where John comes from,” Stahelski told The Independent, “and where he wants to go. I don’t want to say too much more, but it will be a nice completion to Mr. Wick’s journey.”
The past two movies already gave a hint at the history of John Wick, including why he had to leave his profession. Fans know that the assassin fell in love and got married, but his wife died leaving him alone with a puppy. After that, well, things got out of hand.
He also shared that he already has an idea about the life of John Wick before the events of the first movie. Reeves, too, know his character so well that if asked to explain, they will “be very obtuse.” They rather just show the audience what happened to the ex-assassin, rather than explain it through words.
Reeves is very hands-on when it comes to the development of his character. Stahelski shared that he and the actor talked about how to create an empathetic character who is not necessarily good (there are no real good guys in John Wick’s world). “How do you make good bag guys versus bad bad guys,” he asked.
END OF THE TRILOGY, BEGINNING OF A TV SERIES
He also hinted that the story of John Wick might be coming to an end. The director stated that they want the third movie to finish the trilogy, but comments that the decision is up to the studio.
He also shared that Lionsgate is looking at possibly developing a spin-off television series that expands on the underground world of these assassins. Stahelski assured fans that there are a lot of talented, capable people working on the project. Rest assured, it has the potential to be as good as the movie source. He also said that he would like to be involved in the television series if it does get made.
On whether it will be a prequel or a sequel, the director cannot say right now. He said there are plenty of ideas being considered right now, but the studio is yet to decide.
STAYING TRUE TO ITS ROOTS
Stehlski also reiterated that they have no intention to go bigger in the third installment regardless of the success of the first two movies and the bigger budget. He pointed out that while he enjoyed watching big, blockbuster action movies, they tend to become a little predictable.
“If you had to guess what the next big superhero set-pieces were going to be, would you say skyscrapers? Would you see giant spaceship? You would be within 95 percent accurate just guessing at those,” he said. John Wick: Chapter 3 is a little more mysterious and exciting because viewers have no idea what it would bring to the table next.
John Wick: Chapter 2 recorded a $166.8 million gross at the worldwide box office. The hit action movie is now available on Digital HD, DVD, and Blu-Ray.
John Wick dosen’t give a damn about your leverage.
John Wick, is a man of focus, commitment and sheer fucking will.
Do what the man asks. Be free. Then, if you want to go after him,
burn his house down, be my guest.
But until then, rules. Exactly. Rules.
Without them, we’d live with the animals.
What say you?
Never one to waste words.
“Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat”, which literally translates to Fortune Favors the Bold.
There was a time not so long ago in which I considered us as friends.
I still do.
Yet here you are. Death’s very emissary.
Why?
Because, I lived my life my way. And I’ll die my way.
May you have a safe journey, Mr. Wick.
You stabbed the devil in the back and forced him back into the life that he had just left.
You incinerated the priest’s temple. Burned it to the ground.
Now he’s free of the marker, what do you think he’ll do?
Oh, and remember… you owe me. You don’t want me owing you.
