my favorite thing about this is that each of them is walking in a different direction, it’s like these girls are off to conquer the entire goddamn world
They’re gonna meet in the middle
In the middle they will find the avatar, master of all elements and the force:

HOPE IS A MISTAKE and they call her foolish for bringing an ex-cop back to the ‘dome. What do they know about him?
What does he know about piloting a jaeger?
But she’s not concerned with his past. It only took a few minutes fighting a group of assholes in an ally by this stranger’s side to know: THEY’RE DRIFT COMPATIBLE. Something Furiosa hadn’t felt since the day her mother was ripped from the hull of their jaeger along with her left arm. It was a battle that earned her a hushed sort of fame and a spot heading a jaeger repair team of her own. Still doing what she could, battling her losses day by day.
With millions of lives at stake, the cost of drifting with someone as filled with dangerous memories and rage as she is seems small enough in her eyes. And if they could harness that rage, there’d be no telling what they could do.
TOGETHER—- maybe they could find a bit of REDEMPTION.
aka the pacific rim au we all saw coming, with max rockatansky as left hemisphere and furiosa jabassa as right, the pair of them kicking kaiju ass.
Furiosa isn’t the female action hero we’re used to. Furiosa doesn’t have a dad who taught her boxing or five brothers who taught her how to fix cars. Furiosa wasn’t a tomboy growing up, who preferred to play with the boys. Furiosa isn’t avenging the murder of her husband/brother/father or hunting down a rapist.
Furiosa comes from a community of women. She was raised by women. She works her way up through enemy ranks until she’s in a position to rescue women. Furiosa is here for women, she is here with women, and she is here because of women. Her rage, her ruthlessness, her courage – these are all things she learned from women, and from being a woman.
One of the things about Furiosa that I appreciate is she is never super nice and sweet and squishy inside to “make up” for her rough exterior. Yes, we see her in tender and vulnerable moments, especially with the Vuvalini, but she never does that thing that is often done with rough/hard/brutal characters (especially female characters), where we see them secretly being all warm and fuzzy because they’ve just put up a front to protect themselves. Furiosa has been hardened and burned in the fires and horrors of the wasteland, but she has become strong and tough throughout. Her survival instincts and strength don’t exist only to protect some squishy interior, they are who she is to her core.
World building:
‘I am one of the Vuvalini’
‘Of the Many Mothers’
‘My Initiate Mother was Katie Concannon’
‘I am the daughter of Mary Jo Bassa’
‘My clan was Swaddle Doll[Dog?]’
WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN? HOW ARE THE VUVALINI ORGANISED? IN LIEU OF PATRIARCHY DO THEY HAVE MATRIARCHY OR IS IT TECHNICALLY SORORITY INSTEAD AND IF SO HOW IS IT STRUCTURED? WHAT IS AN INITIATE MOTHER???? IS THAT A MENTORING ROLE?? WHAT WERE THE OTHER CLANS NAMED??
[thrashes around in world building glee]
