• the mission he’s referring to is the video game, which was basically “OH SHIT SOME GORN KILL ALL THE GORN JUST DO IT”
• and meanwhile Bones is off helping bring more of them into the world
• Kirk and Spock kill a Gorn
• Bones wraps its replacement in an emergency blankie
• and probably says “oochie-woochie-coochie-coo” to it because that’s how he rolls
• and it bites him but that just means it loves him and thinks he’s its daddy
• because baby Gorn imprint on the first thing they see like ducklings
• Bones delivers all the little Gorn and gives them to their mother and closes up the incision
• and she just looks at him and points to them one by one and is like “RAAAAAHGHHHRAARRRR” for each one and he has no sweet clue that she’s actually just named them all “Leonard McCoy Grrrapthak Numbers One Through Eight”.
• and Bones just realizes that now there are nine lizards and he runs away
• and she takes her octuplets back to the Gorn homeworld and the name of Leonard McCoy lives on through the ages
